Mumbai's Koli fishing community on August 7 celebrated 'Nariyal Purnima' festival, which marks the end of mating season of fishes and the start of the new fishing season. Devotees prayed to Lord Varuna, the Sea God, and offered him coconut and garlands for a plentiful catch. Notably, the fishermen avoid going into the sea during the fish-breeding season.
